Jim understands farm and ranch insurance because he’s a farmer.
I grew up working on a farm, as a dairy and ranching operation for my father and his brothers. Our summers were spent hauling hay, hoeing cotton and corn, cultivating, and working cattle. When I was in high school, I attended the National FFA Convention in Kansas City and was surprised when I heard people talk about being from the “West,” when we had driven a day and a half east from Arizona.

My brothers and I bought my first ranch when I was in college, and I’ve been involved in ranching ever since and have been an owner of a dairy. I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting and worked for many years as a CPA, focusing on agriculture and ranching clients with operations throughout the Western US and Mexico. I also speak Spanish.

I got involved in agriculture because, as my wife says, “It’s in my blood.” I enjoy the people, and the lifestyle and enjoy trying to improve the land and our livestock genetics so my children and grandchildren can continue to enjoy it. I’ve been involved in selling ag insurance for about 5 years because I have seen how much it has benefitted our operation.
