JASON WENZ
Crop Insurance Agent
Jason understands farm and ranch insurance because he’s a farmer.
I’m from eastern Arizona, where my wife Sandra, our two daughters, and I have been living for 27 years. We’ve been running our family ranch near Red Hill, New Mexico, for 22 of those years, a place that’s been in Sandra’s family for over a century.
Growing up in Nebraska, I was all about farm life, helping out on my family’s farms. That’s where my love for agriculture, especially cattle farming, really kicked off. Inspired by my dad, uncles, and grandad, I’m proud to carry on their legacy of respecting and loving the land.
I’ve had a pretty diverse career in agriculture, from being an Assistant Cowboy Boss in Nebraska to ranching in Montana and New Mexico. I’ve also spent a lot of time training young horses, which has been both a personal passion and a way to help others.
Get in TouchHow long have you been in Ag?
I’ve been in the ag world my whole life, around 50 years now. While I started in cowboy boots, I’ve grown into what you might call a true cowman. Our operation involves managing a crossbred cow/calf herd over a mix of Forest Service/BLM and private land, about 45 sections in all.
Seeing family ranches around us get sold made me want to do something. My goal is to support small, family-owned ranches like ours, helping them stay in the hands of people who really care about them. I’m all about teaching other ranchers and farmers the importance of risk management to keep our industry strong.

Outside of all this, I love spending time with my family on our ranch, enjoying the natural beauty around us. We’re close to a ski run, so skiing and snowboarding with our daughters is a big part of our lives. I also continue working with young horses and sharing insights from the Bible, which means a lot to me.
